| Living Well with Cancer Support Group (For those with Advanced Diagnosis [Stage 3 or 4], Recurrence or Metastasis) |
|
This is a group of people who meet to assist and support eachother as we deal with the many psychological, informational, physical and spiritual issues that arise as a result of being on the cancer journey. The group is designed to address the unique needs of those of us who have been diagnosed with advanced-stage cancers, or who have recurrent or metastasized disease. In a safe and comfortable environment, we meet for five sessions to improve coping skills through techniques such as relaxation and stress management, meditation, journalling, visualization and/or group discussion. We respect individual and family autonomy and use a non-directive, self-help model approach to support and assist each other in a compassionate and non-judgmental way (through involvement, problem solving, information and exploration). Participants respect confidentiality, and use discretion to ensure privacy and engender mutual trust. Together, we share knowledge of community resources and help each other to access services that may be of benefit to you and to those around you. "We are all together in this life. |
